MEADOWS — WEDNESDAY NIGHT
R4 – MATT LOCH (2) 525m, 7:57pm
Country cups specialist who holds a clear class edge. Once he balances up he’s got unrivalled mid-race speed, and from Box 2 he should park handy and put them away late. Main danger is the 6, but he controls the race map.
R5 – MEASUREMENT (2) 600m, 8:17pm
Serious prospect stepping to the middle trip. Has a big mid-race motor and from the inside draw can hold a position, open a break down the back, and be too strong to the line. The 1 is the logical chaser.
R7 – LIGHTNING QUICK (5) 600m, 8:57pm
String of sharp sprint wins here says the 600m suits perfectly. If he steps, his pace to the first turn and sustained run home make him hard to catch. The 1 draws to stalk, but the 5 has the gears.
R12 – TRAUMATISE (8) 525m, 10:36pm
Explosive talent with the right wide draw to hit the arm. When he lands, he can break 30 and blow this open; only needs a clean step to justify the hype. The 2 has mid-race speed, but the pink alley is ideal
RICHMOND — WEDNESDAY NIGHT
R8 — MAYBE NEXT WEEK (401m)
A star on the rise who loves Richmond. Drawn to get room to move, he should cross, take control and carve out sharp time. If he lands on the arm, the race looks over.
R3 — MORNING DAYLIGHT (320m)
A serious up-and-coming sprinter with explosive acceleration. She should clear the inside, find the front and run sub-18 time if conditions suit. Hard to catch.
R5 — WARREN’S LEDGER (401m)
Continues to improve each run and looks perfectly placed here. Has the pace to clear early trouble and once he balances up, his strength late makes him very tough to run down.
R9 — RED ROCK RATTLER (320m)
Back to form with a fast win last time out and mapped to get a similar run. Should position on speed, accelerate away mid-race and prove too strong again.
CANNINGTON — WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Here are the four strongest plays on tonight’s program:
R12 — RED HOT BERNIE (275m) — Best Bet
He’s come back flying and everything maps perfectly from the red. Has the sharp early burn and once he balances, his top-end speed should put this away quickly. If he begins cleanly, the rest are running for minor money.
R7 — FERNDALE FLYER (520m) — Next Best
Has been right around the mark in recent runs and gets another suitable setup tonight. Consistency and track craft are his weapons — if he finds the front or parks close behind the leader, he’ll be hard to hold out late.
R10 — SUNSET SKYLIGHT (275m)*
Loves the red box and has never run a bad one when drawn inside. Should hold the rail, accelerate through the bend and control the race tempo. A proven short-trip operator with a strong strike rate.
R11 — RIPPIN’ PEDRO (381m)*
Ran a slick 21.84 here last week and there’s nothing in this race that can pressure him early if he repeats that jump. The wide draw is fine as he likes room to muster — if he crosses clean, he puts them away again.
