Kensington Horse Racing Analysis for Friday, December 5th

Kensington presents an eight-race program on a Soft 5, headlined by the Cogburn Worlds Fastest Horse @ Widden BM64. With a mix of open maidens, returning talent and in-form runners across the card, there’s strong depth and several races offering genuine value for punters

KENSINGTON (NSW) – Soft 5

R1 – Precise Air Handicap (1300m) – 3YO C&G Maiden

Analysis

Hard race to line up with many lightly raced types. LANCELOT DU LAC debuts from the inside draw and looks to have the right set-up to perform well first time out. ICHIBAN KOJI was good when resuming at Canterbury and has placed second-up before, so another forward showing is expected. CELLARMASTER resumes after a break and his recent trial placing suggests he’s returned in good order. DUE NORTH wasn’t disgraced on debut and the addition of blinkers can spark improvement.

Selections

R2 – Randwick Mayor’s Cup (1300m) – 3YO Fillies Maiden

Analysis

The leading chances look fairly clear. BALMORAL CASTLE has been ultra-consistent in both starts and should be right in the finish again. SKIRMISH resumes after a spell but brings solid trial form and can make an impact fresh. SUNSPRITE debuts and profiles well enough to be competitive. DAPHNES will need luck from the gate but has the speed to offset it.

Selections

R3 – The “Crewy” John Brady Handicap (1800m) – BM64

Analysis

LENNOX was strong winning fresh at Gosford and stays in well-within-reach grade here. CONTALDO only just missed last start and should appreciate stepping up to 1800m. THINK WE’RE THERE has been around the mark consistently and the rise in trip may bring out his best. SUNSOURCE generally improves into his prep and is capable of featuring with the right run.

Selections

R4 – Fidelity Capital Australia Handicap (1250m) – BM64

Analysis

A competitive race but the top pair stand out. CROSS TASMAN resumes and has trialled well enough to suggest he’s ready to fire. CALGA POWER impressed winning fresh and looks a major player again. SOCIABLE is racing consistently and can surprise with the right run. WRITTEN SCANDAL continues to race honestly and shouldn’t be overlooked.

Selections

R5 – Vinnie @ Yarraman Park Handicap (1400m) – Fillies & Mares BM64

Analysis

Looks a two-horse race. MOTHER GOOSE has been consistent this prep and wasn’t far off as favourite last start — clear top pick. VIRGIL’S GIFT is building a strong resume and just missed at Rosehill, making her the main danger. FAST TRACK wasn’t beaten far last time and should be fitter now. ELIVINA produced a good fresh run and maps well.

Selections

R6 – Toyota Forklifts Handicap (1400m) – BM72

Analysis

The top two appeal strongly. ROLLING MAGIC found the line stylishly fresh at Rosehill and draws perfectly — genuine winning chance. HOW MUCH BETTER also resumed well and can finish strongly again. DASHING RUPERT has been holding form in metro grade and is capable of featuring. FRONTEX has talent and removing the blinkers may help him settle better.

Selections

R7 – TAB Handicap (1250m) – BM64

Analysis

LAUREL HILL was strong winning last start and looks capable of progressing again. ZULFIQAR drops back into metro company and can improve second-up. HEURISTIC gets blinkers back on and is suited by the class drop — an each-way chance. HYDROMETER draws well and should press forward, giving him every opportunity.

Selections

R8 – Cogburn Worlds Fastest Horse @ Widden (1250m) – BM64

Analysis

The market-fancied runners look tough to beat. OFF THE PRESS is flying this prep with two wins and multiple placings — very well suited again. ME ME produced a strong fresh run and should be competitive. STARBOARD returns from a long break but has trialled nicely and can make an impact. KYEEMA resumes with a trial win and is worth including at odds.
