Canberra Horse Racing Analysis for Friday, April 3rd


Canberra hosts a nine-race card on a Soft 5, highlighted by the Tuggeranong Cup over 1600m. With competitive fields and open races throughout, there’s solid value to be found.

Canberra (ACT) – Soft 5


R1 – BM50 Handicap (1200m)
Looks a race dominated by the top two. Into The Fire comes off a strong win and can go on with it despite the rise in trip. Dame Annie has been consistent and poses the main danger. Soho Sushi can improve and sneak into the finish, while Vinari continues to race well and shouldn’t be overlooked.

R2 – BM60 Handicap (2000m)
Taytay Bay looks well placed after a strong last-start effort and gets the nod. Bottas draws ideally and has each-way claims. Party It Down is racing consistently and can feature again, while Cinephile is around the mark and worth including.

Hard to split the leading pair. Angel City brings winning form and gets the right run from the draw. Deflector also comes off a win and should be competitive. Brannum steps up in trip and has claims, while Zouwase can improve from last start.

R4 – Handicap (1000m)
Teylu resumes in winning form and looks well suited again. Iowna Benz was dominant last start and is the main threat. Mountain Chatter has a strong track record and can improve fresh, while Panic continues to run well and is in the mix.

Call Me Mojo resumes with gear changes and looks ready to perform. Wave Dancer has shown enough this prep to be competitive. Six Kings has trialled well and shouldn’t be dismissed, while Beauty Birdie can improve second-up.

R7 – Tuggeranong Cup (1600m)
A tight race between the main chances. Belleistic Kids has a strong record at the track and looks well placed. Ghost Walker draws to get a perfect run and can feature. Mosgold is consistent and should be thereabouts, while Brutal Eyes adds depth to the race.

R8 – Class 1 Handicap (1000m)
Honey Perfume draws perfectly and should be fitter, making her hard to beat. Overtook resumes with solid trial form and can challenge. Leila Belle comes off a win and has each-way claims, while Platinum Ridge returns and can improve.
