Eagle Farm races on Saturday with fine weather forecast and the track rated a Good 4, possibly improving during the day. The rail is out 4.5m. Tony Gollan’s stable is in good form, with 11 winners from its last 50 runners, and has several leading chances across the card.
Global Eclipse in Race 3 is our strongest bet of the day. Spaceballs in Race 8 is the each-way value play.
Race 3

Global Eclipse has improved since moving to a Queensland stable. He won well last start after going for home early, and his run before that was solid in a stronger race. The tempo looks moderate, and he is fit enough to sit close and kick clear. Giapponese is the main danger. He can be inconsistent, but he has won at Eagle Farm before, draws well and has a claim. Think Like Paddy has been racing in stronger form races than most of this field.

Race 5
Selection: Another Cashie Current odds: $4.40
Another Cashie ran the fastest closing sectionals of the day first up and looks ready to win again. The worry is his wide draw, which could leave him well back or caught wide. We still think he has the most ability in the race. Strada Varenna is the danger. He won easily two starts ago, was good in defeat last time and gets a 3kg claim. First Mission has a strong first-up record.

Race 6

Scripted has been placing consistently but has not been winning, mostly against stronger Sydney fields. This is an easier race back home in Queensland, and she should be close to the lead turning for home. Komodo Dragon is the favourite and will be on the speed, so he is the main danger and belongs in exotics. Easy Love is lightly raced, has trialled well and can run on from a tricky draw.

Race 8

This is our each-way value play rather than a confident win bet. Spaceballs is also entered in Race 6, so check which race she starts in. She needed her first-up run, has placed in all four of her second-up starts and gets a light weight. Her last run in Queensland was better than the result showed. Moonan Quartz is the one to beat. He has won four of his nine starts, races on the speed and should be fitter for his last run. Rochedale Hero is going as well as he ever has.

Race 10

Gram has won six races in a row. This is a harder race, but from a good draw he should lead or sit right on the leader, and he has been hard to run down. His stablemates Ten Deep and Esha are the main dangers. Ten Deep has won both her trials and has a strong Eagle Farm record. Esha has won two of four for the stable, though 1200m may be a little short for her.
