Eagle Farm has a six-race Wednesday card with only about 70 acceptors. The latest rating is Soft 5 and the rail is out. In-form jockey Damien Moor is worth noting. Tony Gollan’s stable has been quiet lately, but it still has runners in most races.
Monotone in Race 6 is our strongest bet of the day. He is short, but that is a fair price for how well he is going. Ready Set Tergo in Race 4 and Gambler in Race 5 are the next best. Il Fratello has been scratched from Race 6.
Race 1 - Become A BRC Member Maiden Plate (1000m)

Dragon Link ran well fresh last preparation and was just beaten on the Gold Coast poly before a spell. He has returned with a stylish trial win and should be well placed. Palmanova has joined Kris Lees and was second to Dragon Link in that trial, so she is the obvious danger. No No No No No is a long price and resumes off a placing in a trial. Malamagic is a well-trialled debutant for Gollan.

Race 2 - Sky Racing Maiden Plate (1400m)

This is a plain maiden. Fracus has had two runs and was strong late in both, including a placing fresh at metro level. He comes from a good draw for Kris Lees, and the extra distance should help. Storming Home has changed stables since a poor debut and has trialled impressively since. Son’s Of Fortitude was a brave placegetter at $91 on debut at Doomben. Seaticflash has placed every start this campaign. Check the acceptances, as Cavalluna is also entered in Race 4.

Race 3 - Drinkwise Benchmark 68 Handicap (2443m)

There isn’t much reliable form in this staying race, so keep bets small. Power Of Success has won twice this campaign and was close up at Doomben last start. He also has barrier 1. Dracena steps up in trip after a fourth on soft ground at the Gold Coast and is the favourite. Ayasaki has been the most consistent of the group and should be on speed. Cigar Man won here last time, but his runs either side of his wins have been poor.

Race 4 - XXXX QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap (1200m)

Ready Set Tergo ran fourth on debut at Doomben and was the fastest horse late in the race. Second-up, with Damien Moor riding, he looks the one to beat. Jimmy The Scat came out of the same race and missed by only a fraction, but he has drawn badly this time. Cavalluna is having his second start and is finishing better and better. Icy Lad is the Gollan debutant to watch in the betting.

Race 5 - Higgins Coatings Class 5 Handicap (1000m)
Selection: Gambler Current odds: $3.30
Gambler has won his last two at the Sunshine Coast since changing stables, and he should get a similar run just behind the leaders from a good gate. Shirvington has won five of 11, but his form is either a win or a poor run. His trial at the Gold Coast was outstanding and he draws barrier 1, so he is the main danger. Yoweri is consistent for Gollan and is well down in the weights. The Fixer handles soft ground and comes from a strong stable.

Race 6 - Ladbrokes Tote Win +10% In October Class 1 Plate (1200m)

This is our best bet of the day. Monotone has improved a lot since moving to Queensland. He trialled well, then broke his maiden by more than six lengths at the Sunshine Coast, and he has a good draw. Mission Of Joy also won by a wide margin at the Sunshine Coast and is the best saver. Quickzou has been beaten less than a length in both runs this preparation, and Drinkwater can lead if the track favours horses on speed. Il Fratello is scratched.
