Kilcoy races seven times on Tuesday, starting at 2:34pm Sydney and Melbourne time (1:34pm in Queensland). Fixed prices were not available when we wrote this preview, so the selections are listed without odds. Check the market before betting. This is a low-grade country card with several runners returning from long breaks, so most races are open.
Brass Band in Race 3 is the runner we trust most, coming off a win. Bee Exact in Race 6 is the other last-start winner on the card.
Race 1 - Ladbrokes Turn On Flex Multi Maiden Plate (1500m)
Selection: Langdown Legacy
Langdown Legacy has improved with each run and was second at Toowoomba last time. He has shown early speed and should get a good run. Shawnee Boy resumes after a sixth at the Sunshine Coast and is the danger, though he drops back in trip. Sweedish Queen was third at Warwick and finishes well. Slayrider is an each-way roughie.
Selections:
- Langdown Legacy
- Shawnee Boy
- Sweedish Queen
- Slayrider
Race 2 - Great Northern Brewery Maiden Handicap (1200m)
Selection: Quantum Overdrive
Quantum Overdrive has been off for 39 weeks and is having only his second start, so his sixth at Ipswich can be forgiven. Logan Downs is also back from a long break and should improve. Swift Winter was well beaten at Eagle Farm but the drop to Kilcoy suits, and the Dylan Turner and Paula Barron team is worth respecting. Legas Spirit is a debutant for Michael Lakey, so watch the betting.
Selections:
- Quantum Overdrive
- Swift Winter
- Logan Downs
- Legas Spirit
Race 3 - RQ Safe Work Month Benchmark 58 Handicap (1900m)
Selection: Brass Band
Brass Band won well at Grafton and has been consistent this preparation. He should be on the speed and is our best of the day. Seeress also won last start, at Lismore, and draws well, so she is the main danger. Lord Danilo was third at the Sunshine Coast and is the each-way bet. California Grass backs up quickly after a seventh at Gatton.
Selections:
- Brass Band
- Seeress
- Lord Danilo
- California Grass
Race 4 - More From Tote With Ladbrokes Benchmark 60 Handicap (1500m)
Selection: Privalova
Privalova only just missed at Warwick last start and looks the one to beat. Drialle was fifth in the same type of race at Warwick and draws the rail. Vermilion Kirin resumes and drops in class after an ordinary run at Ipswich. Sukhbir was fifth at Coffs Harbour and will be finishing late.
Selections:
- Privalova
- Drialle
- Vermilion Kirin
- Sukhbir
Race 5 - Exchange Hotel Maiden Plate (1200m)
Selection: It’sall About Mary
A weak maiden. It’sall About Mary was sixth at the Sunshine Coast and gets the nod on form. Bellissimo was only eighth at Gympie, but that was his debut and he should improve from a good gate. Little Khan is a David Vandyke debutant with Matthew Powell riding, so watch the betting. Catfish draws one and will be on the speed.
Selections:
- It’sall About Mary
- Bellissimo
- Little Khan
- Catfish
Race 6 - Ladbrokes Tote Win + 10% Benchmark 65 Handicap (1200m)
Selection: Hughie
Hughie was outclassed at St George last time, but he drops in grade and draws one. Bee Exact won by more than a length at Nanango and is the main danger. Purosangue has speed and Jess Emmerson riding. Mister Selfie gets a big drop in weight after a tenth at Warwick.
Selections:
- Hughie
- Bee Exact
- Purosangue
- Mister Selfie
Race 7 - Pink Up Harness Raceday Handicap (1200m)
Selection: Final Voyage
Final Voyage was close up at Warwick last start, and Jess Emmerson rides again. We think she can win. Torvecchio was well beaten at Beaudesert but gets a good gate. Raygun Express placed first up last preparation and should be strong late. Calvary has a good alley but carries more weight.
Selections:
- Final Voyage
- Torvecchio
- Raygun Express
- Calvary
