Newcastle runs a seven-race card on Saturday. We have focused on the two maidens in Races 3 and 4, where we have the clearest view of the form.
Our best bet is Wild Courage in Race 4. She is not favourite, but we think she is better value than the heavily backed Intense Dream.
Race 3 - Maiden (1300m)

Dr Know had no luck in a strong maiden last start and is close to winning. The wide draw is a concern, but a few scratchings this morning should help him. All Over Harry is the danger on debut after a good recent trial, and the 1300m should suit him. Electric Bliss should improve on her first run. The price on Dr Know is fair rather than generous.

Race 4 - Maiden (900m)

This is our best bet of the day. Wild Courage, trained by the Maher stable, has already shown she can handle 900m, and she has shown more early speed this preparation. From a good draw, she should be able to lead or sit just behind the leader. Intense Dream has been well backed at $1.70, but she is short enough for a horse who looks better suited to a longer trip. Thorston, from the Matt Smith stable, comes out of a solid race at Kembla Grange and should improve.
