AFL Round 10 Analysis & Predictions

AFL Round 10 is packed with blockbuster matchups, headlined by the Grand Final rematch between Brisbane and Geelong, plus a huge clash between Melbourne and Hawthorn. Sydney looks to continue its dominant form at the SCG, while Fremantle, Gold Coast and GWS all face important games in their push up the ladder.

Brisbane vs. Geelong

A blockbuster way to launch Round 10 with a rematch of last year’s Grand Final at the Gabba. Brisbane remains one of the toughest teams to beat at home and their midfield dominance could again prove the difference, while Geelong arrives full of confidence after dismantling Collingwood. The Cats are capable of explosive football, but the Lions’ scoring power and home-ground edge make them hard to oppose in a high-pressure clash.

Selection: Brisbane -14.5 @ $1.90

Sydney vs. Collingwood

Sydney returns to the SCG looking to extend its winning streak after another strong performance last round. The Swans continue to pile on scores at home and now face a Collingwood side battling injuries and inconsistency. The Magpies have historically competed well at the SCG, but with key outs and Sydney’s elite ball movement, the ladder leaders look set to control the contest.

Selection: Sydney -28.5 @ $1.90

Gold Coast vs. Port Adelaide

The Suns head back to Darwin where they’ve built a dominant record over recent seasons. Port Adelaide continues to compete hard despite a string of close losses, and the big line gives the visitors appeal in what should be a tougher contest than the market suggests. Gold Coast deserves favouritism, but Port has shown enough grit recently to stay within striking distance.

Selection: Port Adelaide +26.5 @ $1.90

Adelaide vs. North Melbourne

Adelaide Oval shapes as a major advantage for the Crows, who are beginning to build momentum with consecutive wins and a near full-strength lineup. North Melbourne has been competitive all season but continues to fall just short against stronger opposition. Expect the Kangaroos to fight hard early before Adelaide’s midfield class and scoring options take over late.

Selection: Adelaide -18.5 @ $1.90

Melbourne vs. Hawthorn

One of the matches of the round with both sides entering in strong form. Hawthorn has been excellent despite injuries, but Melbourne’s midfield pressure and scoring ability make them dangerous at the MCG. The Hawks still look the more polished side overall, though the generous line gives the Demons plenty of value in what should be a close battle.

Selection: Melbourne +20.5 @ $1.90

Carlton vs. Western Bulldogs

Carlton enters a new era after a chaotic week off-field, while the Bulldogs arrive with renewed confidence after snapping their losing streak. The Dogs have won the last three meetings between the clubs and their midfield depth could prove decisive again. Carlton should show improvement under an interim coach, but the Bulldogs look better equipped across four quarters.

Selection: Western Bulldogs -15.5 @ $1.90

Essendon vs. Fremantle

Fremantle continues to emerge as a genuine premiership contender after another statement win last round. Essendon has shown patches of improvement but continues to struggle against elite opposition late in games. The Dockers’ ability to turn matches quickly with their pressure and transition game should prove too much at the MCG.

Selection: Fremantle -34.5 @ $1.90

St Kilda vs. Richmond

St Kilda faces a Richmond side heavily impacted by injuries and lacking depth, but the huge line makes this an interesting betting contest. The Saints should control most of the game with their superior talent, though Richmond has shown enough spirit in recent weeks to suggest they can stay competitive for periods and keep the margin respectable.

Selection: Richmond +41.5 @ $1.90

West Coast vs. GWS

GWS heads west desperately needing consistency to keep its finals hopes alive, while West Coast is searching for answers after another difficult stretch. The Giants should welcome back key personnel and face an Eagles side still battling injuries and form issues. If GWS brings its best pressure and ball movement, it can put this game away early.

Selection: GWS -30.5 @ $1.90
