Master Taj has finished in the placings at both career starts and looks close to breaking through. His latest effort at Geelong was full of merit and he maps well from a favourable draw. Vivarini and Koko both have claims first-up, but Master Taj brings the strongest exposed form.
Race 2 – Vale Ian Dickinson Maiden Plate (1000m)

Mahershala made a promising debut when finishing third at Pakenham and looks very hard to beat in this company. He has had time to mature during the break and should appreciate returning against provincial opposition. The short price reflects his clear class edge over this field.
Race 3 – The Mower Shop Maiden Plate (1300m)
Selection: Lady Of Bronte
Odds: $8.00
Lady Of Bronte gets an ideal draw and looks capable of improving sharply on her latest run. Her earlier form this preparation was solid and this field doesn’t appear any stronger. At the current odds she shapes as one of the better value betting tips on the program.
Race 4 – Kilmore Ford Maiden Plate (1600m)
Selection: Bull Run
Odds: $5.50
Bull Run was sound when resuming at Seymour and should take plenty of improvement from that effort. The rise in distance looks suitable and the stable has a strong record placing its runners. Truth Seeker and Royal Maximus are key dangers, but Bull Run gets the nod.
Race 5 – Seymour Toyota Benchmark 62 Handicap (1600m)
Selection: Zentorno
Odds: $2.60
Zentorno hit the line well first-up at Bendigo and now draws perfectly in barrier one. He should settle closer to the speed and gets every chance to show his turn of foot. The form from stronger meetings stacks up nicely for this contest.
Race 6 – Hope Racing Benchmark 62 Handicap (1400m)
Selection: Centu Cavaddi
Odds: $2.70
Centu Cavaddi was below his best last start but had trialled strongly beforehand and is worth another chance. The inside draw should ensure a soft run and his previous form measures up very well here. He looks the horse to beat if returning to his best.
Race 7 – Mailbag Bloodstock Class 1 Handicap (1200m)
Selection: Chowdown
Odds: $3.70
Chowdown drops back from stronger metropolitan company after a respectable Sandown performance. The draw suits and his recent form has been consistently competitive. This looks a much more suitable assignment and he should be right in the finish.
Race 8 – Boss Plumbing & Drainage Benchmark 62 Handicap (1000m)
Selection: Rosangela
Odds: $4.20
Rosangela resumes after racing in stronger company during her previous campaign and now finds a far more suitable grade. Recent trial form suggests she is ready to perform fresh and her early speed should be a major asset despite the wide draw. She appeals as a solid value option in the final race.
