Townsville Racing Tips: Sunday 31st May Best Bets

Townsville hosts a competitive eight-race program with a mix of in-form favourites and genuine value runners. Several races look wide open, and with conditions expected to suit a number of key chances, there should be plenty of betting opportunities across the card.

Race 1 – Great Northern Brewing Co QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap

Exodas arrives in outstanding form after winning three of his past four starts and was impressive again at Mackay last time out. He maps perfectly from a good draw and looks to get every chance in a race where his recent form clearly stands out. Betterlucknexttime and Nottington Prince look the main dangers.

Race 2 – Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Maiden Handicap

Selection: 3. Say It Loud — $2.70

Say It Loud has been knocking on the door and comes into this after another placing at Mackay. He looks well suited stepping into this field and should get every opportunity to settle closer from the draw. Small Town Hussler has been consistent, but Say It Loud looks the horse with the most upside.

Race 3 – Quality Fabrications & Welding Class 3 Handicap

Selection: 7. Bubbles’N’Froth — $4.80

Bubbles’N’Froth was dominant winning by 3.5 lengths last start and now returns to similar company with confidence on his side. He continues to improve and looks capable of measuring up despite a slightly stronger assignment. The current odds offer genuine value.

Race 4 – Ladbrokes Punter Assist Class 3 Handicap

Selection: 5. She’s A Beauty — $3.20

She’s A Beauty has a terrific record at Townsville and comes into this race off another strong effort. The quick backup looks ideal and she should again settle in a favourable position. Her proven track form gives her a slight edge over Smart Mission and Ellis Beach.

Race 5 – Vale Shane McGovern Open Handicap

Selection: 6. Outsmarted — $4.00

Forgive Outsmarted’s latest run. Prior to that he had been racing consistently and winning at this track earlier in the preparation. Back against similar opposition and from a suitable draw, he looks capable of bouncing straight back.

Race 6 – Thuringowa RSL Benchmark 60 Handicap

Selection: 6. Golden Octavian — $5.00

Golden Octavian gets conditions to suit and should appreciate any give in the track. His closing effort last start suggested a win isn’t far away and this looks a suitable race to break through. At the price, he represents one of the better value plays of the day.

Race 7 – Townsville RSL Benchmark 70 Handicap

Selection: 2. Colours Of Autumn — $5.50

Colours Of Autumn was outstanding late when scoring here last start and remains on an upward trajectory. The draw is ideal and another genuine tempo should allow him to finish over the top of them. He appeals as a strong each-way chance at the current quote.

Race 8 – Belle Property Benchmark 50 Handicap

Selection: 3. Colonel Parker — $3.00

Colonel Parker couldn’t have been more impressive winning by over four lengths at Gordonvale. He maps to get another soft run near the speed and looks capable of going on with the job. Breeches is respected, but Colonel Parker deserves favouritism.
