Canterbury Racing Tips
Race 1 – Cactus Imaging Maiden Plate (1550m)
Farset has been racing consistently this preparation and gets another suitable chance on the quick back-up. Wairarapa was strong on debut and looks suited rising in trip, while Scoish Maloish maps well and can run into the money again. Farset gets the nod with the race fitness edge.
Selections:
- Farset – $2.80
- Wairarapa – $2.25
- Scoish Maloish – $6.50
- Reschs Milk – $13.00
Race 2 – Ole Kirk @ Vinery Stud Maiden Handicap (1250m)
Demerzel was solid on debut at Warwick Farm and should improve sharply with that run under her belt. She maps to control the race from a handy position and looks suited by improving ground. Woodenbridge and Consulate are dangers, but Demerzel looks the best bet on the program.
Selections:
- Demerzel – $3.00
- Woodenbridge – $6.00
- Consulate – $5.50
- Castelbella – $5.50
Race 3 – Irresistible Pools And Spas Maiden Handicap (1250m)
By Napolean Hill was well supported on debut and ran a strong second. He draws well, gets Nash Rawiller aboard and should take improvement from that first race experience. Klocke has strong claims after also placing on debut, but the map gives By Napolean Hill the edge.
Selections:
- By Napolean Hill – $4.80
- Klocke – $3.10
- Elio – $6.00
- Defensemen – $11.00
Race 4 – Inglis Xtra Bonus Maiden Plate (1250m)
Claudel made a strong impression on debut when finishing second at Warwick Farm in a race that rated well. She draws to get a soft run and should improve with race experience. Our Huntress has been consistent, but Claudel looks the runner with the most upside.
Selections:
- Claudel – $2.70
- Our Huntress – $6.00
- Gatwick – $8.50
- Flying Artisam – $16.00
Race 5 – Ranvet Benchmark 72 Handicap (1550m)
Full Hao looks ready to improve dropping back in grade and drawing the inside gate. She has been plain in two runs this prep, but this is an easier assignment and she should get every chance to settle closer. Mo Chroi has obvious ability, but Full Hao appeals at the better value.
Selections:
- Full Hao – $4.20
- Mo Chroi – $2.50
- Viewpoint – $7.00
- Emballee – $7.50
Race 6 – Asahi Super Dry Benchmark 72 Handicap (1900m)
Think I Will comes off a strong maiden win and gets in with a light weight. He should be able to race positively again, which is a big advantage around Canterbury. Format and Le Troisir are both winning hopes, but Think I Will has the upside.
Selections:
- Think I Will – $5.50
- Format – $5.50
- Le Troisir – $6.00
- Velaris – $5.50
Race 7 – TAB Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m)
Madrina looks well placed from barrier two and should get the run of the race. She drops in weight after the apprentice claim and finds a suitable grade. Eton is a danger from the inside draw, but Madrina looks the value play.
Selections:
- Madrina – $8.00
- Eton – $2.80
- Mrs Maree – $12.00
- Twisted Queen – $14.00
Best Bet
Race 2 – Demerzel ($3.00)
She should improve sharply from debut, maps well and looks set to control the race from a favourable position.
