Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday 13th June Best Bets

Sandown racing tips for Saturday’s nine-race Hillside meeting centre around testing Heavy 8 conditions, with wet-track form and race fitness set to be important. We’ve gone through the card to find our best bets, value runners and selections.

Race 1 – Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1000m)

Code: BBT500

Selection: Stars Of Dom
Odds: $2.70

Stars Of Dom was narrowly beaten on debut at Sandown Hillside and should take good improvement from that race experience. The stable has to be respected and the wide-open Hillside straight should suit if she gets clear air late. Our Brave Boy has strong place form, but Stars Of Dom looks the sharper winning chance.

Race 2 – Thoroughbred Club Of Australia Handicap (1200m)

Selection: Amping Lass
Odds: $8.00

Amping Lass comes out of a strong Sandown Lakeside run and looks capable of improving with a more suitable tempo. She has been consistent this preparation at metro level and the heavy ground should not be a major concern. At the current odds, she appeals as one of the better value betting tips on the card.

Race 3 – Evergreen Turf Handicap (1600m)

Selection: Pula
Odds: $4.80

Pula only just missed as favourite last start and has been racing well in town this campaign. She handles soft ground and has the tactical speed to put herself in a winning position. Sweet Jasmine and Cooly are both live chances, but Pula brings the most reliable form.

Race 4 – Sportsbet Fixed Odds Exotics Handicap (1400m)

Selection: Clevor Trever
Odds: $2.20

Clevor Trever is chasing four straight wins and continues to improve each time he steps out. His latest Caulfield win was dominant and the 1400m looks ideal. The wide draw should be manageable on the Hillside track and he looks the one to beat.

Race 5 – Ive Handicap (1400m)

Selection: Coeur Volante
Odds: $4.40

Coeur Volante returned with a strong placing at Caulfield on heavy ground and looks well suited second-up. Her record when having her second run back is excellent and she should be fitter for the fresh effort. Punch Lane is the main danger, but Coeur Volante gets the nod.

Race 6 – Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap (1000m)

Selection: Cicala
Odds: $3.10

Cicala resumes after a long break but has trialled well and brings plenty of upside. Her previous form suggests she has the talent to measure up in this grade, especially if she handles the heavy conditions. Landmark and Zouper Fund are both capable, but Cicala looks the most progressive runner.

Race 7 – Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap (2400m)

Selection: Straand Deal
Odds: $4.00

Straand Deal is in terrific form, winning his past two starts including a dominant staying performance at Sandown Lakeside. The rise to 2400m looks ideal and he maps well from barrier two. Simurgh and Kurakka have strong claims, but Straand Deal looks ready to keep progressing.

Race 8 – Quayclean Handicap (1800m)

Selection: Makdane
Odds: $3.30

Makdane is a proven wet-track performer and should appreciate getting back to a more suitable trip. He maps to get a soft run from barrier two and looks ready to peak. Sir Atlas and Pudding are obvious dangers, but Makdane has the right set-up.

Race 9 – Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap (1400m)

Selection: Thebelmontgangster
Odds: $4.20

Thebelmontgangster was only narrowly beaten last start and should get a favourable run from barrier six. He has been racing well and looks suited coming back to Saturday city grade. From A Distance and Storm Season both have claims, but Thebelmontgangster looks the safest option in a tough finish.
