Sandown Racing Tips: Tuesday 2nd June Best Bets

Sandown Lakeside promises an exciting day of racing on a Heavy 8, with a mix of progressive types, proven wet-track performers and some well-fancied favourites facing genuine challenges. There looks to be good value across the card, particularly in the competitive middle races where several runners appear capable of outperforming their odds.

Race 1 – Sportsbet Jockey Watch Plate (1200m)

Selection: Miss Lola ($2.50)

Miss Lola produced a career-best effort when narrowly beaten at Moe first-up and looks ready to go one better. The heavy conditions shouldn’t worry her and she maps to settle prominently. Sonic Surge has trialled strongly and looks the main danger, while Ninetyfiveinafifty and debutante Luminaza round out the key chances.

Meness had excuses on debut after missing the start badly at Flemington and can improve sharply here. The extra distance looks ideal and recent trial form has been encouraging. Frankel’s Word commands respect on debut, while Ko Phangan and Miss Waititi have enough upside to feature.

Race 3 – Sportsbet Blackbook Handicap (2100m)

Oak Beach has been racing in career-best form and looks perfectly suited back to Sandown. She should get a favourable run near the speed and the rise to 2100m looks ideal. Foire De Trone, Realika and Hotinherre all bring competitive form and should be around the mark.

Houdini drops into a suitable race and brings the strongest metro form into the contest. The likely moderate tempo should help him conserve energy over the trip. Ardashir is racing consistently, while Empress Of The Sun and Sunsets have genuine claims if conditions become testing.
