Kilmore Racing Tips: Monday 1st June Best Bets

Kilmore shapes as an exciting eight-race meeting on a Soft 7 track, with a mix of promising maidens, strong favourites and several open handicaps. Proven wet-track performers should be well suited, while a few runners look capable of offering punters some excellent value throughout the card.

Kilmore – Soft 7

Race 1 – Bet365 Top Finishes 3YO Maiden Plate (1107m)

Selection: Come Dancing ($3.30)

The debutant comes from a strong Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable and has been well found in early betting. This looks an open maiden following the scratching of Texture and Come Dancing gets her chance to make an immediate impact. Swift Endorsement and Eton Affair are obvious dangers but the market support is hard to ignore.

Race 2 – Nagambie Senior Citizens Maiden Plate (1107m)

Selection: Johnny Tightlips ($1.60)

Johnny Tightlips has done little wrong in two starts and was narrowly beaten at this track last time out. He maps perfectly from the draw, gets a strong jockey booking and looks the clear horse to beat. The short quote reflects his consistency and current form.

Race 3 – JC Windows Maiden Plate (1607m)

Selection: She’s Astunnerarch ($3.60)

She produced an excellent debut effort at Kilmore and the rise to a mile looks ideal. The daughter of Fiorente was strong through the line first-up and should only improve with race experience. Fierce Fiasco and It Matters both bring solid form but She’s Astunnerarch has the most upside.

Race 4 – Broadstead Kilmore Maiden Plate (2007m)

Selection: Determinato ($2.15)

Determinato has placed at every start this preparation and was heavily backed before finishing third at Wodonga last time. The step to 2000m looks suitable and this appears an ideal opportunity to break through. I Believe I Belong is the main danger but Determinato deserves favouritism.

Race 5 – Mc Labour Benchmark 56 Handicap (2007m)

Selection: Call Me Rhonda ($3.50)

Call Me Rhonda broke through impressively at Stawell and looks capable of going on with the job. The wetter conditions are a positive and she maps for a soft run from a good barrier. Taupo Tiger has claims but Call Me Rhonda offers the stronger winning profile.

Race 6 – C&M Build Group Benchmark 56 Handicap (1457m)

Selection: Frozen Tide ($7.50)

This looks one of the better value plays on the program. Frozen Tide has trialled strongly leading into his return and his first-up run last campaign suggested he can be highly competitive in this grade. At the current odds, he appeals as a genuine value bet.

Race 7 – Bet365 Same Race Multi Benchmark 56 Handicap (1107m)

Selection: Bossy Star ($4.20)

Bossy Star drops significantly in grade after contesting stronger races and gets back onto rain-affected ground. He should enjoy a much kinder run in transit and looks well placed to bounce back. Never A Thought and Got Out The Fence are respected but Bossy Star stands out on value.

Race 8 – Tellurian Wines Benchmark 56 Handicap (1607m)

Selection: Cash Converter ($6.00)

Cash Converter has been racing consistently this campaign and gets an important gear change with winkers going on. His recent efforts suggest another win isn’t far away and this field looks suitable. Shrewsbury Road and Pick Wisely both have claims but Cash Converter appeals at the price.

Best Bet

Race 2 – Johnny Tightlips ($1.60)

The most reliable form reference on the card. He has been runner-up at both starts and looks ideally placed to break through.
